AN ALL-NEW STANDALONE FROM NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR JULIA KENT

One hundred years ago when I was young and impulsive (okay, it was five, alright? Five years ago...) I let my boyfriend take, let's just say... compromising pictures of me.

(Shut up. It made sense at the time).

Surprise! The sleazy back-stabbing jerk posted them on a website and, well, you can guess what happened. That's right.

I'm a meme. A really gross one.

You've seen the pictures. And if you haven't - don't ask. And don't look!

As face recognition software online improves, I get tagged on social media whenever anyone shares my pictures. You try getting a thousand notifications a day, all of them pictures of your tatas.

So. I'm done.

It's time for revenge. Let him see how it feels! But how do you get embarrassingly intimate pictures of your jerkface ex who double-crossed you five years ago?

Especially when he's a member of the U.S.House of Representatives now?

Getting sweet between the sheets with a congressman is pretty much every political roadie's dream, right? I'm one in a crowd.

Except to this day, he swears he didn't do it. Pursued me for months after I dumped him five years ago. Begged me to take him back.

And I almost did it. Almost. I was weak and stupid and in love a hundred years ago.

Okay. Fine. Five.

But I still have the upper hand. Second chance romance has all the emotional feels, doesn't it?

I can't wait to punch him in the feels.

All I need to do is sleep with him once, take some hot-and-sweaty pics of him in... delicate positions, and bring him down. That's it. Nothing more.

Pictures first. Revenge after. And then I win.

At least, that's how it was supposed to happen. But then I did something worse than sexting.

I fell in love with him. Again.

Parker’s grasp as we kiss is masterful, his hips pivoting until we’re in a tiny closet, the door shutting behind us, our bodies surrounded by coats. At any second, someone could walk in, find us, interrupt and embarrass us, but I don’t care as my fingers grasp his thick, hard chest. He doesn’t care as his hand slides between my thighs, my need to be touched so great that I moan into his mouth, biting his lip. He makes a sound that says he needs this, too, his erection pressing into my hip, the centering of his thickness as he nudges my legs wider with his knee making me hold my breath as he rubs up, just once, just right, just there.
“I’ve missed you,” he hisses as his mouth takes my earlobe, sucking gently, then hard, the tip of his tongue flicking and laving, my clit spasming as it imagines him doing this between my legs. My fingertips dig into his shoulders, one hand diving down the length of his abs until I cup his sac, then ride the ridge of my palm up his long, thick, engorged–
“What are we doing, Parker?” I gasp.
“Whatever we want,” he says, so steady, so sure, so unabashedly here.
“SKIP?” someone calls out from behind the door.
“PERKY?” Mallory whisper-yells, her voice breaking through as I clench, my whole body going tight, the core of me shivering with an orgasm that crashes over me as Parker’s leg, his mouth, his very presence, make me lose my everloving mind.
And all my self-control.
Every shred of it.

Review: Politics + Romance doesn't always strike a chord with me. I mean this world isn't full of Kennedy men any more.... I mean just look at our countries leaders. Nope not a one I'd hop into the sack with. Not even if you paid me.

However there is this book and here are the reasons you should read it.

1. The characters are just out there! Quirky, off the rails wild

2. The book is dang funny. Not little tee hee hees kind of funny, but the laugh out loud kind that occasionally makes you embarrass yourself when you are reading in public.

3. The friendships. Perky, Fiona and Mal are all people you want to know.

This book was a rip roaring good time of a read.

Is there really such a thing as a quarter life crisis? You bet your ass there is. We should be married, maybe with kids, have a great job - but have a body like you don’t, and have our lives all figured out. There is this existential pressure on women to have it all and do it all. Even if you rebuff this pressure, subconsciously, it’s still there. Middle fingers up to assumptions about where we should all be with our lives at a certain point. Am I right?

I’m Laura Kincaid. The last year of my life has been what dreams are made of, but I think I’ve forgotten my own dreams. My best friend and I traveled across the country with no responsibilities. However, the lack of structure and routine got to me, and now I’m a little lost and I can’t figure out why. I’m a planner, a doer, and a lover of all things sparkly. My quarter life crisis started one night when I realized I was in love. Don’t worry, reading about my hot mess will make you feel better about yours.

Review: This is the second book in a series, and I made sure to snag book one, after I read this one, because I wanted to see what I was missing from the first book. I kinda think it probably would have been helpful to read Megan's story going into this one, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.

I keep thinking at 25, I didn't have my (insert expletive here) together. Heck at 45, I still don't, so I could kinda feel Laura.

This was a laugh and cry kind of book. I ran the gamut of emotions with Laura. I loved her. I wanted to shake her.

This was a quirky fun read and I hope to read my by RL Griffin

Excerpt:
There he is, Wilhelmina,” Grizzy whispered, staring reverently across the crowded ballroom. “The Duke of Thorndon.”
Holy hell he’s handsome, thought Mina.
Jaw-dropping-on-the-floor handsome. Drool-on-your-lace-fichu handsome.
Distract her from her plan with his brother, handsome.
Her uncle had been right. Thorndon was a fine figure of a man. Objectively speaking, the finest she’d ever beheld.
Tall as a doorframe, with a face hewn from the same granite as the rugged Cornish coastline.
A face rendered seductive by contrasts: sharp cheekbones and curved, sensuous lips. Gleaming ebony hair brushed his collar. His eyes were a light, gold-tinged brown—the only warm thing about him.
He owned this ballroom. Literally. And he owned everyone in it by dint of his oversized presence and the cold, unsmiling arrogance scrawled across his face.
He didn’t even follow the dictates of fashion, preferring plain black attire to the white pantaloons and gaily-colored waistcoats of the other gentlemen.
Why should he follow the dictates of fashion? Everyone should follow him.
When you’re introduced to Thorndon, pray speak as seldom as possible,” Grizzy whispered. “Attempt to appear biddable and do try to recall my decorum lessons. Remember, no one in London knows anything about you, thank the Lord.”
Mina had seen several polished, elegant young ladies staring at her, nudging each other and whispering. She was an outsider, a usurper, her proper place in the social hierarchy not yet established.
They needn’t worry. She had no designs upon their prize duke. And she was about as unpolished as a debutante could be—as rough as an un-sanded plank. If anyone touched her they might get splinters.
She longed to shed her country skin swiftly and emerge as the sophisticated social butterfly her mother had been. But she knew that it would take time, observation, and experimentation.
Her first flirtatious conversation, first kiss, first taste of brandy, first adventure…it was all ahead of her.
She couldn’t wait to taste it all.

TLC Book Tours Book Review: Lady In The Lake

About Lady in the Lake

• Hardcover: 352 pages
• Publisher: William Morrow (July 23, 2019)

The revered New York Times bestselling author returns with a novel set in 1960s Baltimore that combines modern psychological insights with elements of classic noir, about a middle-aged housewife turned aspiring reporter who pursues the murder of a forgotten young woman.

In 1966, Baltimore is a city of secrets that everyone seems to know—everyone, that is, except Madeline “Maddie” Schwartz. Last year, she was a happy, even pampered housewife. This year, she’s bolted from her marriage of almost twenty years, determined to make good on her youthful ambitions to live a passionate, meaningful life.

Maddie wants to matter, to leave her mark on a swiftly changing world. Drawing on her own secrets, she helps Baltimore police find a murdered girl—assistance that leads to a job at the city’s afternoon newspaper, the Star. Working at the newspaper offers Maddie the opportunity to make her name, and she has found just the story to do it: a missing woman whose body was discovered in the fountain of a city park lake.

Cleo Sherwood was a young African-American woman who liked to have a good time. No one seems to know or care why she was killed except Maddie—and the dead woman herself. Maddie’s going to find the truth about Cleo’s life and death. Cleo’s ghost, privy to Maddie’s poking and prying, wants to be left alone.

Maddie’s investigation brings her into contact with people that used to be on the periphery of her life—a jewelry store clerk, a waitress, a rising star on the Baltimore Orioles, a patrol cop, a hardened female reporter, a lonely man in a movie theater. But for all her ambition and drive, Maddie often fails to see the people right in front of her. Her inability to look beyond her own needs will lead to tragedy and turmoil for all sorts of people—including the man who shares her bed, a black police officer who cares for Maddie more than she knows.

Review: OK, this book is absolutely AMAZING!

Set in the 60s in Baltimore. (Its hard not to think of the musical Hairspray when you are reading this book, not for lighthearted reasons, but the subject matter)

Maddie leaves her husband to find herself, going to work at the bottom of the totem pole, for a local newspaper where she becomes a part of a murder investigation.

Cleo is the murdered women in the lake. Yeah, she's a ghost and you hear quite a bit from her. I think that's really what drew me in to this book from the start

You get a lot of narrators in this book, which makes for a dizzing read, but never the less a good one that touches on so many issues. (Again..think Hairspray only heavier)

About Sightseeing in Manhattan

Hannah-Rae
On stage at a Magic Mike theme night with the music blaring and her hands trailing the oily,
well-defined abs of another man is where Hannah-Rae realizes that maybe she isn’t as heartbroken
about her cheating ex as she had first thought. She had known she needed to make some big
decisions about life before flying out to NYC, she just hadn’t expected her heart would be calling all
the shots.

Matt
He didn’t know why or how his passion for dance had come about. All he knew is that when he was
on that stage throwing shapes down, he felt so alive in the moment that he almost forgot about the
fact that his little sister was sick and there was absolutely nothing he could do about it. Almost.

When chance circumstances bring us together, will dancing bring us something more than either of us
expected?

After all, 425 Madison Avenue is the perfect place to fall in love.

Letting go with one of his hands, he slides his fingertips up my back and to the nape of my neck.
Some of my hair tangles between his fingers and he squeezes gently, pulling me up toward him
again to meet another waiting kiss.

He spins me back around and commands me to take hold of the wheel and not let go. I do as I’m
told and cling to it, not even caring about the direction or thinking about anything other than how
good his hands feel, now that they are both free to roam over my body. He traces them over my
hips and spans my waist before tracing up to the curve of my breasts and cupping them each, over the top of my cardigan.

“I like this, pink suits you,” he whispers softly into my ear.

“I guessed it was pink from the feel of it. It’s light and soft, like cotton candy.”

“It’s cute. Sometimes you look cute. I thought that when I picked you up. Now you don’t look cute,
though.”

“I don’t? Then how do I look now?”

“Breath taking.” He says the word so easily that it sounds natural and believable. Even if I don’t
believe it myself, he makes me feel like the most beautiful woman in the entire city.

My long waves blow free in the evening breeze and it’s eerily quiet with the noise of the city in the
distant background. “Your curves are the sexiest thing I’ve ever laid eyes on,” he murmurs as his
hands come to rest on my waist, pinching gently as though trying to control himself. I’m not sure I
want him to.

Review:
This is the last book in the 425 Madison series and I have to say, I am so sad to see it end.

I've read all nine books and I've been introduced to some fabulous authors as a result.

This book is a fitting end and quite possibly my favorite of the bunch. So many different situations in
these books. A visually impaired heroine and a hero who is a dancer and they meet Magic Mike Style

Can it get much better than that?

I say no.

This was a sweet quick read and a great way to end a fun series.
