Little Beach Street BakeryAbout Little Beach Street Bakery

• Paperback: 448 pages
• Publisher: William Morrow Paperbacks (March 31, 2015)
In the bestselling tradition of Jojo Moyes and Jennifer Weiner, Jenny Colgan's moving, funny, and unforgettable novel tells the story of a heartbroken young woman who turns a new page in her life . . . by becoming a baker in the town of Cornwall

A quiet seaside resort. An abandoned shop. A small flat. This is what awaits Polly Waterford when she arrives at the Cornish coast, fleeing a ruined relationship.

To keep her mind off her troubles, Polly throws herself into her favorite hobby: making bread. But her relaxing weekend diversion quickly develops into a passion. As she pours her emotions into kneading and pounding the dough, each loaf becomes better than the last. Soon, Polly is working her magic with nuts and seeds, chocolate and sugar, and the local honey—courtesy of a handsome beekeeper. Packed with laughter and emotion, Little Beach Street Bakery is the story of how one woman discovered bright new life where she least expected—a heartwarming, mouthwatering modern-day Chocolat that has already become a massive international bestseller.

Review:  I have to admit, the first book by Jenny Colgan that I read was a Doctor Who novel, cos I'm that kind of girl. I knew she wrote chicklit so I had to give her a go.

I fell in love with the cover of the book instantly. I also love that Polly love baking. I like women that aren't gorgeous and wealthy and totally put together. Polly isn't any of those things. She's real. She's dealing with bankruptcy and a relationship gone sour.

She's moved to a seaside town to a flat that's barely livable. Some of the residents are nice and some not so much. Then she finds an injured puffin. This is the second book I've encountered with puffins. They are the cutest birds ever!!

I really fell in love with Jenny's writing. The character were all so fun. It made you wish you could be in her little town eating her bread. I loved Polly's fascination with bread and Jenny's descriptions will have your mouth watering.

This book was a light fun read. Definitely a must read for a warm spring or summer day. I can't wait to revisit Polly in the next book!
