Review: This was truly one of the most unique plots I've seen in quite awhile when it comes to erotica. I read Lauren's Erotic Me Spice Brief's series last winter and I really enjoyed them, so I jumped at this one.

My Wicked Gladiators combines historical romance and erotica, and it does it well. There's plenty of sex and voyeurism and ample plot to make this a really good read. I've been reading more erotica lately and most of it has disappointed me. This book did not.

Here's why you should read it. (Assuming erotica is your thing)

1. There's a strong heroine that knows her own mind. (And this is ancient Rome so it could be easy to write about a women that falls under the feet of the men).

2. She grows as a character throughout the story, which means there is plot!

3. Her wicked gladiators are smoking hot! I love the relationship she shares with Marcus and Caius. I also love the relationship they have with each other. I would have enjoyed a bit more M on M here.

4. Alba is very forward thinking. She treats the slaves like they are people, which didn't happen often in ancient Rome. I wish there would have been more with her slave girl, who was more than just a friend to her.

5. The romance actually works in this story.

I really enjoyed this story. Mostly because there was story along with the sex, and that's usually what keeps me from liking a lot of the erotic fiction out there right now.  It was also a short read, a little over 200 pages. I think that it was the perfect length. Just long enough to so that the sex and the story worked well together. A definite must read for fans of erotic romance!

Guest Post: Erotica is in again.

As a writer who first sat down at the computer about five years ago, when erotica was hot last time, this is a huge relief. Many writers pen stories in a plethora of genres, but chances are that only one or two feel like “home” to them. Erotica is that home to me.

I have been teased many a time about writing erotica... people I know say that the stories are “smut”, “not real books”, even that they are “porn”. I used to get mad... now I just laugh. Why? Because the genre was hot five years ago for a reason, and it’s hot again now for the same one.

People like to read erotica.

There are some books out there that are strictly about the sex. There’s nothing wrong with those—they’re just not my cup of tea. In My Wicked Gladiators, I was aiming for some sort of depth, for a book with imperfect characters that people could relate to. I don’t know if I’ve achieved it, but even though it’s a sexy read, I reached way down into myself to pull that story out. I’m proud of it.

Thankfully, there a ton of stories in the erotica genre that are also amazing stories, stories with real people who have real issues.

I’ve listed my favorites here. What are some of yours?

1.    50 Shades of Grey by EL James (if you haven’t read this yet, run—don’t walk—to your Kindle!)
2.    Fear of Flying by Erica Jong (not super erotic, but sexy regardless—and it was considered hot stuff for its time)
3.    Bound by Sasha White (this book was my intro to the very naughty side of things—so good!)
4.    Tempted by Megan Hart (Alex—what else can I say?)
5.    The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by A.N. Roquelare (aka Anne Rice) (hot, hot hot)

Book Blurb:Imogen hasn’t had sex with her husband, Ty, in over a year. She’s still as attracted to him as ever, but they’ve both been looking for something new to renew their desire for one another. Yet she never thought to find it at a friend’s wedding when another couple invites them to share their bed. Ty is obviously aroused by the idea and the thought of a ménage thrills Imogen to her core. Could this be the key to rekindling their passion…and can Imogen go through with it?

Review:Let Me In is the last Spice Brief in the Erotic Me series. I have to say that I really enjoyed all four stories, but I wish they could have been longer. I liked the characters, and in this one, I really liked Imogen. She's real! She's not the usual female you see in erotica. She's a real woman and she has real problems, one of them being her sexual relationship with her husband.

This is where I wish the story could have been longer. I wanted to know why things weren't right with them. It would have helped things along for me. But then again, there is only so much you can do in about 20 some pages, and Lauren does wrap things up nicely. Plus as always the sex is super spicy.

This story is definitely a must read to complete the series, though all four are stand alone shorts. Pick these up and read one before bedtime or devour them all. Just make sure you have something to cool you down by the bed for when you finish!

Book four of Lauren Hawkeye’s Erotic Me series.

Book Blurb: Linda doesn’t know why she agreed to attend an old friend’s wedding, or the after party where she encounters her old flame, Eric. She’s as attracted to him now as she was in college…and even more aroused when she meets his captivating friend Nate. Unlikely as it seems, Linda can’t deny the two sexy men are interested in her—and that she wants them both, too. She’s determined to follow the night through with them, wherever it may lead…

Review: Lead Me On is the third story in the Erotic Me series and it is by far the steamiest. This is one of those...you need a shower and a cigarette after you read it kind of stories, that's how hot this one is.

This is the perfect threesome, two hot guys and a girl. 'Bout damn time someone got it right!

This story is really written in the fashion that most old fashioned erotica is written. It is all about sex and there's not a happily ever after that needs to be had at the end. It is all about the pleasure, and Lauren really brings that across in this story. Anis Nin would be proud!

The story is super short, but the encounter between Linda, Nate and Eric is all that it should be and more. Put this story on your Nook, Kindle or other ereader and read it before bed and your dreams will definitely be sweet!

Bewitching Book Tours Book Review: Tie Me Up

Book Blurb: Barbara always thought of Ethan as her little brother's annoying best friend, and she was sure he just considered her his friend's nerdy big sister. Until the hot night after her brother's wedding. Alone in the heat, it's clear Ethan sees her in a way she never saw herself: as a sexy, sensual woman. And for the first time, Barbara feels ready to break free from the painful memories that have haunted her for too long—by exploring her passion for Ethan.…

Review: Spice Briefs are super short erotic stories that pack a swift punch in your "get hot and bothered zone." Tie Me Up is the 2nd story in the Erotic Me series by Lauren Hawkeye.

It is super short...somewhere around 20 pages, so Lauren has to reach out and grab you fast, because if you blink, you are on the last page. In this one we see Barbara and Ethan, two people that have known each other for ages, but have never ....erm EXPLORED each other.

That changes.

You don't quite understand what the inspiration for their hot and heavy lovemaking session is, but it really heats up the pages. What Lauren does give us, is a rather sad backstory for Barbara, who was raped at a very young age.

I would have preferred a bit more spice to the story than the back story. If this had been a full length novel or even a novella, I would have been able to deal with the events in Barbara's past, but in something this brief, it leaves you want to know more.

Bewitching Book Tours Book Review: Take Me Down

Book Blurb: Evie may feel like she doesn't measure up to her prettier, younger sister, but she still knows what she wants—Lucas, her cousin's sexy roommate. She's dreamed about being with him for a long time, and on the sweltering night of her sister's wedding, it's clear he shares her lust. Now Evie is determined to take what she desires—even if it's just for one night….

Review: If you have a few minutes and you want a really spicy erotic story, Lauren Hawkeye delivers with the super short, Take Me Down. The story is only about 20ish pages long, but it is packed full of heat.

I would have liked it to be a bit longer, so you could get to know Lucas a bit more and really understand his attraction to Evie, but I'm not complaining.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next three stories in this series.
