Synopsis

Between volunteering for the annual pumpkin festival and coaching her girls to the state soccer finals, high school teacher Tj Jensen finds her good friend Zachary Collins dead in his favorite chair. When the handsome new deputy closes the case without so much as a “why” or “how,” Tj turns her attention from chili cook-offs and pumpkin carving to complex puzzles, prophetic riddles, and a decades-old secret she seems destined to unravel.
Henery Press is releasing the 1st 6 books in this series on September 6, 2016

Snowmen in Paradise (A Tj Jensen Mystery Book 2) Winter Carnival comes to Serenity, and with it Tj finds her schedule busier than ever. Not only is her ski and snowboard team heavily involved in demonstrations and local competitions, but her ragtag choir is about to debut in their first live performance. To make matters even more complicated, someone has killed Travis Davidson, a town favorite son, world-class snowboarder, and Olympic hopeful. Tj is determined not to get involved in the subsequent investigation until she learns the prime suspect is Chelsea Hanson, high-school boyfriend Hunter Hanson’s sister.
Although there’s no shortage of Sereninites with a grudge against the hometown hero, even Tj has to admit there’s good cause to suspect Chelsea of the murder. Balancing bridesmaid duties, Winter Carnival obligations, show choir duty, and after-hours investigation, Tj sets out to prove Chelsea innocent.

Bikinis in Paradise (A Tj Jensen Mystery Book 3) When the Tropical Tan Corporation descends on Maggie's Hideaway, the lakeside resort where Tj Jensen lives, she must juggle a bikini contest, a BBQ cook-off, a missing model, and a dead chaperone while her father is out of town. Lead Deputy Dylan Caine is on vacation while his sister is visiting, leaving Assistant Deputy Roy Fisher in charge. When Roy asks Tj for her help they find there may be more going on than anyone realized. With Kyle and Jenna's help, they dig into the lives of those involved, only to find a mystery more complex than anything they could ever have

imagined.   Christmas in Paradise (A Tj Jensen Mystery Book 4) Christmas in Serenity is a magical time of year Tj has always looked forward to with happy anticipation. This year her holiday spirit is marred by the impending arrival of two new men in her life. When one of them ends up dead, Tj must juggle community plays, Christmas tree cuttings, sleigh rides, and holiday shopping with a complex murder investigation. As the facts begin to unravel, she realizes she may have to risk everything to save someone she loves.

Puppies in Paradise (A Tj Jensen Mystery Book 5) When a friend of Tj’s is injured in a car accident during a blizzard, Tj takes responsibility for the litter of puppies left behind. Meanwhile, she works with Kyle, Jenna, and the gang to catch the person responsible for the death of a close family friend. When it turns out that the main suspects are also close to the Jensens, Tj must deal with one of the most difficult decisions she’s ever had to make.

Halloween in Paradise (A Tj Jensen Mystery Book 6)
In the midst of the annual Halloween frenzy, Tj finds herself pulled into a series of events at the high school where she works. Not only must she help one of the girls on her team deal with a case of cyberbullying, but she must help a student who has recently suffered a personal tragedy. And as if Tj wasn't busy enough, in walks Samantha Colton, a reporter for Second Look, a television series that takes a look back at unsolved murders. This time the case is the death of a popular student after the homecoming dance ten years before. To make matters even worse—or maybe more convenient—the graduating class of the victim is in town for their ten-year reunion and all the suspects just happen to have converged on Serenity for the weekend. When Samantha turns up dead, Tj must track down someone who seems willing to kill again to keep their secret.

Review:  First of all, let me say that Henery Press does the best book covers in the whole world. The cover for this book just screams cute.

It also puts me in mind of Halloween and fall, and guess what? Its that season again. Yay! And why is that? Because it has everything about fall in it all wrapped up with a mystery involving the death of one of TJ's  elderly friend Zachery.

There's more to this story than a simple whodunit too. TJ finds herself unraveling a mystery in Zachery's life as well. That mystery just might be what caused his death.

I adored TJ. She was really a sweet caring person, as you can see through her relationship with Zachary. I loved all the twists and turns that came about through her sleuthing to uncover what happened to her beloved friend.

There are so many surprises along the way too. I love the new town detective, Dylan. He is a wonderful character and actually pretty developed considering his part in this story isn't really a big one as yet.

The ending will leave you in tears, if you are one to get emotional over books. I don't mean the unearthing of the whodunit, but the closure of Zachary's life.

This is the first book in the TJ Jensen series. Its a quick read too, but a very enjoyable one. I'm definitely going to be continuing on with this series.

Adam de Guirande has barely survived the aftermath of Roger Mortimer’s rebellion in 1321. When Mortimer manages to escape the Tower and flee to France, anyone who has ever served Mortimer becomes a potential traitor – at least in the eyes of King Edward II and his royal chancellor, Hugh Despenser. Adam must conduct a careful balancing act to keep himself and his family alive. Fortunately, he has two formidable allies: Queen Isabella and his wife, Kit. England late in 1323 is a place afflicted by fear. Now that the king’s greatest traitor, Roger Mortimer, has managed to evade royal justice, the king and his beloved Despenser see dissidents and rebels everywhere – among Mortimer’s former men, but also in the queen, Isabella of France.

Their suspicions are not unfounded. Tired of being relegated to the background by the king’s grasping favourite, Isabella has decided it is time to act – to safeguard her own position, but also that of her son, Edward of Windsor. As Adam de Guirande has pledged himself to Prince Edward he is automatically drawn into the queen’s plans – whether he likes it or not.

Yet again, Kit and Adam are forced to take part in a complicated game of intrigue and politics. Yet again, they risk their lives – and that of those they hold dear – as the king and Mortimer face off. Once again, England is plunged into war – and this time it will not end until either Despenser or Mortimer is dead.

Days of Sun and Glory is the second in Anna Belfrage’s series, The King’s Greatest Enemy, the story of a man torn apart by his loyalties to his lord, his king, and his wife.

Review: Anna Belfrage is one of my favorite authors. This is the second book in the King's Greatest Enemies series.

Like all of Anna's books, give yourself some time to sit down with this one. She writes lengthy books and you really won't want to put it down once you get started.

Up until a few years ago I had never read about Edward, Isabella and Roger Mortimer. Since then, I think this is the 4th or 5th book that involves these historical figures. They are suddenly becoming my Henry VIII.

This was definitely an interesting period in history too, and Anna brings the history to life so well in her books. Its one of the reasons I devour them.

Anna's books are so well researched and well written that you really become immersed in the tales.

03_Annna_Belfrage 2015 About the Author

Had Anna been allowed to choose, she’d have become a professional time-traveller. As such a profession does as yet not exists, she settled for second best and became a financial professional with two absorbing interests, namely history and writing. These days, Anna combines an exciting day-job with a large family and her writing endeavours.

When Anna fell in love with her future husband, she got Scotland as an extra, not because her husband is Scottish or has a predilection for kilts, but because his family fled Scotland due to religious persecution in the 17th century – and were related to the Stuarts. For a history buff like Anna, these little details made Future Husband all the more desirable, and sparked a permanent interest in the Scottish Covenanters, which is how Matthew Graham, protagonist of the acclaimed The Graham Saga, began to take shape.

Set in 17th century Scotland and Virginia/Maryland, the series tells the story of Matthew and Alex, two people who should never have met – not when she was born three hundred years after him. With this heady blend of romance, adventure, high drama and historical accuracy, Anna hopes to entertain and captivate, and is more than thrilled when readers tell her just how much they love her books and her characters.

Presently, Anna is hard at work with her next project, a series set in the 1320s featuring Adam de Guirande, his wife Kit, and their adventures and misfortunes in connection with Roger Mortimer’s rise to power. The King’s Greatest Enemy is a series where passion and drama play out against a complex political situation, where today’s traitor may be tomorrow’s hero, and the Wheel of Life never stops rolling.

The first installment in the Adam and Kit story, In the Shadow of the Storm, was published in 2015. The second book, Days of Sun and Glory, will be published in July 2016.

Other than on her website, www.annabelfrage.com, Anna can mostly be found on her blog, http://annabelfrage.wordpress.com – unless, of course, she is submerged in writing her next novel. You can also connect with Anna on Facebook, Twitter and Goodreads.

Great Escapes Book Tours Review: Cracked To Death

Cracked to Death (A Webb’s Glass Shop Mystery)
Cozy Mystery
3rd in Series
Mass Market Paperback: 320 pages
Publisher: Kensington (June 28, 2016)
ISBN-13: 978-1617737640
goodreads-badge-add-plus

Synopsis

When a treasure hunt leads to deadly plunder, it’s up to glass shop owner Savannah Webb and her trusty investigative posse to map out the true motives of a killer . . .
It’s the dog days of summer in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Webb’s Glass Shop proprietor Savannah Webb has an eco-friendly plan to help locals escape the heat–a recyclable bottle-crafting workshop taught by reticent store manager Amanda Blake. Turns out, the class is a bigger smash than expected, thanks in part to a pair of staggeringly old bottles brought in by snorkeler Martin Lane . . .
Linked to a storied pirate shipwreck, the relics definitely pique Savannah’s interest. But intrigue turns to shock when Martin’s lifeless body washes ashore the next morning, another glass artifact tucked in his dive bag. With cell phone records connecting Amanda to the drowning, Savannah must voyage through unchartered territory to exonerate her colleague and capture the twisted criminal behind Martin’s death . . .
Review:  I read the second book in this series back in March and I really enjoyed it so I was really excited to read the next book in the series!

I wasn't disappointed either.

In this book, we get glass blowing and PIRATES!

ARRRRRR!

Though these aren't your Pirates of the Carribean pirates.

The pirate aspect comes from some relics that Martin Lane, a snorkler has found. When he turns up dead, Savannah knows she has to find out what happened to him. When his death is connected to one of her friends she has to take action.

I liked learning about Amanda in this story.  Having been and still am a caregiver for a parent, I empathized with her plight, especially when one parent is terribly ill. I also liked how Amanda and Martin's story tied together.

I also enjoyed learning about the cobalt blue bottles that Martin had found.

The story started off a little slow but once it got going it really moved quickly. I felt so bad for Amanda, even though there were so many red herrings that pointed to her.

It was pretty hard to figure out who the killer was. Even at the end I was surprised, because though I had thought of one character, there was another that I felt had more motive.

I loved the mystery and I love learning about glass blowing as I read. Crafty cozies, like this one make me wish I had some sort of talent.

This is a fabulous read and one of my favorite series right now!

Synopsis

When Marley McKinney’s aging cousin, Jimmy, is hospitalized with pneumonia, she agrees to help run his pancake house while he recovers. With its rustic interior and syrupy scent, the Flip Side Pancake House is just as she pictured it—and the surly chef is a wizard with crêpes. Marley expects to spend a leisurely week or two in Wildwood Cove, the quaint, coastal community where she used to spend her summers, but then Cousin Jimmy is found murdered, sprawled on the rocks beneath a nearby cliff.
After she stumbles across evidence of stolen goods in Jimmy’s workshop, Marley is determined to find out what’s really going on in the not-so-quiet town of Wildwood Cove. With help from her childhood crush and her adopted cat, Flapjack, Marley sinks her teeth into the investigation. But if she’s not careful, she’s going to get burned by a killer who’s only interested in serving up trouble.
Review: I love it when I find a new cozy series from the start and that's what I did here. Yay! I also love cozies that involve restaurants or bakeries or just food in general so this was a great fit for me.

Marley is helping her cousin Jimmy at his Flip Side Pancake Restaurant while he recovers from pneumonia. But then Jimmy ends up murdered. That's when things start to get interesting.

I love Sarah's writing style and well this book has all my favorite aspects of a good cozy mystery down to a cat on the cover! Did I mention the cat's name is Flapjack? How cute is that?

The pacing is just right too. I was happy this was a shorter cozy, because first books end up getting bogged down in letting the reader get to know the cast of characters. That wasn't the case here. You really got to know the people of Wildwood Cove and there's even a possible love interest in it for Marley.

I was really surprised that it took awhile for Marley to make up her mind about staying at the Cove to take care of the restaurant, when it was clear early on that she liked that more than her regular job.

Wildwood Cove is the perfect setting too. Its a place that you wish you could visit while you are reading.

Sarah gives you a great bunch of possible suspects and even puts a little bit of a shade on Jimmy. It makes turning the pages a lot easier and the reading a lot more fun. When we finally learn whodunit, you will definitely be surprised. At least I was.

Oh and there are recipes at the end! Squee!

Every Christian knows that putting the Fruit of the Spirit into practice takes a daily effort and commitment, and it takes a lifetime to master any one of them, let alone all nine. In this new coloring book for adults, Inkspirations Fruit of the Spirit celebrates these powerful virtues that help to fortify us throughout life’s joys and challenges.
Each empowering verse alongside inspiring images reminds us of how acts of kindness, gentleness, or self-control can make a difference, not only in our own lives, but more importantly, in the lives of others. The more we focus and allow God to work in us, the more His spirit can shine through us.
Illustrator Lorrie Bennett is known for painting vintage Bibles. Dating back to the early 1900s, many of her Bibles have been discarded because they are so worn. Inspired by the thought that the Bibles provided spiritual guidance for generations of people, she decided to give them new life by using them as canvases for her unique artwork. This style is adapted to many of the coloring pages within Inkspirations Fruit of the Spirit, so that the Word of God becomes a literal and figurative backdrop for your creations. Now you can color your day brighter, turning your art into meaningful and memorable keepsakes that show God’s Love and Grace.

Review: I've always wanted to get an adult coloring book. This one was my first. I went out and carefully found some colored pencils so I could get started on my projects.

This particular book has bible verses and inspirational sayings on each page. I don't consider myself religious by any means, but the fallen away Catholic in me felt good reading them, as I tried to chose which image to color first

The images on the pages range from the easy to color to the more challenging and intricate, so there's something for the beginner to the more accomplished artist on these pages.

Here's my work in progress.

Like the anal retentive person I am, I started with the first one in the book. It isn't an easy one either, which is why its taking me so long. (I think I may have to buy some more materials).

I think this may be my new hobby.  (And I really want the Cat Inkspiration book!!!)

When Grace Hansen finds a box belonging to her beloved grandfather, she has no idea it holds the key to his past—and to long-buried family secrets. In the box are his World War I diaries and a cryptic note addressed to her. Determined to solve her grandfather’s puzzle, Grace follows his diary entries across towns and battle sites in northern France, where she becomes increasingly drawn to a charming French man—and suddenly aware that someone is following her…

Through her grandfather’s vivid writing and Grace’s own travels, a picture emerges of a man very unlike the one who raised her: one who watched countless friends and loved ones die horrifically in battle; one who lived a life of regret. But her grandfather wasn’t the only one harboring secrets, and the more Grace learns about her family, the less she thinks she can trust them.

Praise For Time and Regret

“With fluid prose and a keen eye for detail, M.K. Tod takes readers on a decades-spanning journey of wartime loss, family secrets, and, ultimately, redemption.” - Holly Smith, Managing Editor, Washington Independent Review of Books

"Spiced with mystery and a spark of romance, TIME AND REGRET is an immersive journey into one man’s brave but terrifying slog through the killing fields of France and Flanders during WWI. Tod’s prose brims with exquisite atmospheric detail, drawing the reader into an unforgettable story." - Juliet Grey: author of the acclaimed Marie Antoinette trilogy

"Time and Regret, equally captivating and suspenseful, presents well-drawn characters who strive to resolve past mysteries and overcome present obstacles. M.K. Tod is an impressively gifted storyteller who creates relatable conflicts and believable dangers. Highly recommended!" - Bestselling author Margaret Porter

“Hugely satisfying - impossible to put down.” - Elizabeth St. John author of The Lady of the Tower

“Time and Regret is something as rare as a treasure hunt with heart. Between the gritty trenches of World War I, the romantic allure of present-day France, and the cut-throat New York arts scene, M.K. Tod has spun a gripping family drama that delves deeply into the effects of war on the human soul and takes us on an intriguing journey of self-discovery. It is a book rich in hard-won wisdom and crucial historical insights, and Tod’s perceptive voice leads us unfaltering through some of the darkest chapters in human history to a very satisfying conclusion." - Anne Fortier author of The Lost Sisterhood

Review: This is the perfect book to read with The Munich Girl by Phylis Edgerly Ring. This one has its roots in WWI.  Anyone that knows me, knows that this is my absolute favorite time period in history.

This story is Martin's and Grace's. Martin's story is set during the Great War in France and told through entries in his diaries, that leave Grace clues to the mystery she is going to solve.

I don't always like stories that jump back and forth between time periods, but when you have characters that you are eager to learn more about you have a winner, and this book was definitely a winner.

Every time I read something about this time period I find myself putting on Byrne and Kelly's beautiful version of "No Man's Land" which deals with that time period.

If you like historical fiction that finds its roots in family history, you will love this book.

So a little bit about myself. I love to read, and create stories for others to enjoy. I've always been told I have a vivid imagination, I just lacked the confidence to pursue putting it onto the written page. But finally I embarked on making a single dream come true.

I love to read, and write. I only read romance, any in that genre really. But it has to have a beautiful happy ending, I know reality isn't like that, but I read to excape real life not re-live it. Reality is too broken and jaded without having to live through the trauma and angst in a book for it to end unhappily.

I live in Yorkshire, England with my family, and many pets. When I'm not writing I am a very busy mummy and wife. My family is my world, my purpose and I am proud to be a part of their lives.
