What Am I Reading Right Now?

My reading is really slow right now. My father is back in the hospital with lung issues and I just don't have any time to really relax and enjoy. However I am reading three books right now..one paperback, one on my Nook and one on my phone.

I am that kind of crazy.

Daughters of the Witching HillLife, Love, and a Polar Bear Tattoo
A Thoroughly Compromised Lady (Harlequin Historical)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading (20)

From Sheila @ Book Journey.

This is the meme where we discuss what we've read in the past week and what we plan to read in the coming week.

I haven't done this meme in ages, mostly because my life has been really hectic on Mondays lately.

Last Week's Reading

What I'm Reading This Week

Gabriel's Mate: Scanguards Vampires (Volume 3)Delirium (Delirium - Trilogy)

I probably would have finished Delirium had I not left my Nook in my desk drawer at work last week. So much to read right now and so little time to do it. I have two music reviews due too. I need more time in the day to get stuff done.

Last Week's Reading

Hope Tarr - A Rogue's Pleasure
Marta Perry - Leah's Choice
Stacey Kade - The Ghost & The Goth

Now here comes the fun part...

What I'm Reading Now

I'm not sure I plan on reading anything other than these three. Between writing reviews for my freelance job and trying to get to the YMCA most every night for at least an hour, cuts into my reading time. It doesn't help matters that the Y has that awesome lending library that I use more than I should.

  From Sheila @ Book Journey.

This is the meme where we discuss what we've read in the past week and what we plan to read in the coming week.

Here are some of the things going on @ A Chick Who Reads this past week.

This week I read:
Olivia deBelle Byrd - Miss Hildreth Wore Brown  This is really a must read for anyone that likes to read humor written by a true Southern Belle!
Julia London - A Courtesan's Scandal  Another really great read. A nice semi-smutty historical. Very well written and fun.
Christina Dodd - Just The Way You Are  Just a cute funny if not very realistic contemporary romance.

I'm Still Reading

What I plan to read this week
I'm hoping to get to Miss Hildrith Wore Brown. I also have a book or two from last week that I didn't get to finish. I'm still working at getting used to the Nook. I think the hardest thing to deal with is not being able to take it in the bath with me.

Yes, I read in the tub! It is my happy spot!

I'm still reading Michele Scott's Happy Hour and Jane Eagland's Wildthorn which I'm reading on my new NOOK!! Yeah I'm a bit excited about the Nook. I also started two harlequins that I haven't finished yet, because it is the weekend and for some strange reason, I just can't seem to ever finish a book on the weekend. It makes no sense, but it is true!

What I'm planning to read this week
I'm going to start Michele Scott's Happy Hour this week. I also think I'm going to jump into one of the books that I bought at Goodwill this week, Kris Radish's Annie Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral. I'm sure there will be a few Harlequin's thrown in there too, because that's how I roll, and I've been on a Silhouette Desire kick lately.

What I'm reading now
I just started Leona Bodie's Shadow Cay, and this one may take me awhile to finish. It's close to 500 pages and so far, its not too gripping.

What I plan to read this week
If I finish Shadow Cay I will probably read a few harlequins or something light. I always do that after a challenging read.

I plan to finish Allie Sager's Forgive Yourself. I'm still working at tackling a huge pile of ancient Harlequins as well as some Nora Roberts books given to me by a friend. That was how I got roped into reading the V.C. Andrews book. I also need to get to Shadow Cay which was on my list last week.

What I read last week
Elizabeth Bevarly - Bride Of The Bad Boy
Anne Stuart - The Wicked House Of Rohan
Myrna MacKenzie - The Maid & The Millionaire
Jennifer Crusie - Manhunting
Michelle Reid - The Passion Bargain
Jacqueline Rayner - The Stone Rose (audio)

What I plan to read this week

I'm still hoping to get to Paul Is Undead, but I never did get to that one last week. The weekend crept up on me and for some reason when I have the most spare time, is when I do the least reading. Weird isn't it? I also hope to get to the two books I got for review this week, The Flash Of A Firefly and Shadow Clay. I guess I'll just have to see how things go.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading

From Sheila @ Book Journey.

This is the meme where we discuss what we've read in the past week and what we plan to read in the coming week.

What I read last week
I really had a bad reading week last week. I blame The Twilight Saga for that. It took me 3 days to get through New Moon. AHHHH

Anyway this was last week's reading

Day LeClaire - Accidental Wife
Stephanie Meyer - New Moon
Rita Rainville - McCade's Woman

What I plan to read this week
Right now Once Upon A Read A Thon is going on. So I'm going to try to widdle my pile of Harlequin's down by a few. Then I plan on reading Paul Is Undead.

Since I'm a huge Beatles fan and have been since I was about 5 years old, I just had to get this book.

I'm not one to read the books like Pride And Prejudice and Zombies, but turn the Beatles into Zombies and I'll definitely want to check it out.

I wonder how John would feel about being a zombie?

Oh and coming up likely towards the end of the week, my first author interview with Emma Michaels, who will be releasing her debut novel on August 13th!

Its Monday! What Are You Reading

From Sheila @ Book Journey.

This is the meme where we discuss what we've read in the past week and what we plan to read in the coming week.

What I read last week
Sally James - A Clandestine Affair
Hope Tarr - The Tutor
Jennifer LeBrecque - Better Than Chocolate
Karen Robards - Loving Julia

What I'm currently reading
Rita Rainville - McCade's Woman (An old Silhouette something or other)

What I plan on reading
I don't want to put this out to too many people, but I'm going to read New Moon this week. I'm probably going to bitch about it too, because...well, most of you know that I'm just not into Twilight, but the first book only made me slightly nauseous while reading it, so I'm going to try the second. Perhaps by the time Breaking Dawn's second movie comes out, I'll have read the whole series.

Also I feel that like with people that don't vote, you don't deserve bitching rights unless you've done something about it. If you don't vote, don't bitch about the government. If you haven't read Twilight, you can't bitch about it.

Makes perfect sense to me!

Its Monday! What Are You Reading

From Sheila @ Book Journey.

This is the meme where we discuss what we've read in the past week and what we plan to read in the coming week.

What I've Read
Janet Evanovich - Finger Lickin' Fifteen
Jason F. Wright - The Wednesday Letters
Dorothy Garlock - Ribbon In The Sky
Rena McKay - Desert Devil

What I'm currently reading
Karen Robards - Loving Julia: The first book by Robards that I picked up a few weeks ago didn't impress me much, but this one is really good. Its a little spin on My Fair Lady and its working out really well.

What I plan on reading this week
I had wanted to read Hope Tarr's latest Blaze Historical, The Tutor over the weekend, but I didn't finish Loving Julia. No big surprise there. It is the weekend. I just don't read much on the weekend. That really doesn't make much sense does it?

I'm not sure what I might pick up next. I found some old Phyliss Whitney's that I hadn't read, and those are great summer reads, plus I have all my new books. I think I may just close my eyes and whichever book I grab first will be the book!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading #6

From Sheila

This is a great weekly event where everyone can keep track of the books finished last week & the books planning to read this week!

What I read last week

Murray Kalis - Love In Paris
Carla Cassidy - Swamp Secrets
Violet Winspear - The Unwilling Bride
Leslie Hatcher - Magic At Sunset

What I'm currently reading
Rena McKay - Desert Devil (Yes I know another Silhouette!)
Dorothy Garlock - Ribbon In The Sky

What I plan on reading this week
I'm challenging myself to stay away from series romance this week. I want to read The Wednesday Letters which I picked up at Goodwill yesterday as well as a few historicals I found in that box, there was an older Julie Garwood that I hadn't read and I do love her books. My problem is that Harlequin novels are my crack. I devour them like candy. Mind you the ones from the 80s and older are kind of stale crack, but still its nice light, fun reading. The only problem is I keep buying more books.

For those of you interested, here's a bit more about The Wednesday Letters

Jack and Laurel Cooper are two hardworking, loving Christian pillars of the community who die in each other's arms one night in the bed-and-breakfast that they own and operate. The event calls their three grown children home for the funeral, including their youngest son, a fugitive from the law who must face an outstanding warrant for his arrest and confront his one true love, now engaged to another man. As events unfold around the funeral, the three children discover a treasure trove of family history in the form of Wednesday letters-notes that Jack wrote to his wife every single week of their married lives. As they read, the children brush across the fabric of a devoted marriage that survived a devastating event kept secret all these years. It's a lovely story: heartening, wholesome, humorous, suspenseful and redemptive. It resonates with the true meaning of family and the life-healing power of forgiveness all wrapped up in a satisfying ending.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading

From Sheila

This is a great weekly event where everyone can keep track of the books finished last week & the books planning to read this week!

What I read last week

Catherine Coulter - The Generous Earl (Review to follow)
Mary Aris - Princess Rose (ebook short story)
Laurie Grant - My Lady Midnight (Historical)
R.L. Stine - The Third Horror (YA horror)
Marion Chesney - Rake's Progress (Regency)

What I'm currently reading

Tanith Lee - Darkness I : I'm so embarrassed that I'm still reading this book. Its not a bad book, but I simply can't get into it. It is like Anne Rice's Queen Of The Damned for me. That was the only book she wrote that I couldn't finish and still haven't, though I haven't tried in ages. I will keep plugging away at this one, because I really hate to leave books unread. Hence my current problem with the ancient romances from my basement.
Leslie Hatcher - Magic At Sunset: This is an old Tiara Romance. I had never even heard of that line until I found the book in a box in my basement.

What I plan to read this week

I'm going to be honest with you, I'm not sure what I'm going to be reading, but here are some of the titles from that box of books. Some of them have tags on them from Hills Department Store! Anyone remember those stores? Oh and the prices? $1.56! GAH! Most of my Harlequins are $4 and up!!!

Marray Kalis - Love In Paris
Sally James - A Clandestine Affair
Violet Winspear - The Unwilling Bride (An ancient Harlequin Presents)
Carla Cassidy - Swamp Secrets (A Silhouette Shadows..I think I liked this paranormal line better than the new Nocturne line)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading

From Sheila

This is a great weekly event where everyone can keep track of the books finished last week & the books planning to read this week!

Last week was a slow week for me. I'm really being hampered by Tanitha Lee's Darknes I, which I've been reading now for several weeks. Its not a bad book by any means but for some reason I can only read a few pages of it at a time. It is officially my bathroom book! If I finish it in a month I'll be happy!

Books I finished last week:

Dorothy Fleming - Always My Love (Contemporary Romance) I really liked it
Linda Goodnight - Winning The Single Mom's Heart (Contemporary Romance) I loved it
Sondra Standford - And Then Came Dawn (Contemporary Romance) Was annoyed by it

Books I'm currently reading:
Tanitha Lee - Darkness I (Paranormal Romance) Please make this book go away.
R.L. Stine - The Third Horror (Young Adult)
Marion Chesney - Rake's Progress (Regency Romance)

What I plan to read this week:

I really think I'm going to continue to work at reading the old romances that I found in a box in my basement. Some of the titles include

Karen Robards, Loving Julia

Laurie Grant - My Lady Midnight

Catherine Coulter - The Generous Earl

And if I can get through those and what I've already started I hope I can get to the Jen Lancaster book I wanted to start several weeks ago.

Its Monday What Are You Reading!

From Sheila

I read a lot last week:

Sabina Clark - An Artful Lady A fun regency romance from the old Second Chance At Love line
Kimberly Raye - 'Til We Meet Again A fast paced paranormal romance from Silhouette Shadows
Ruth McCarthy Sears - The Encounter A cute if not ancient Candlelight Romance, very fun to read even though it was pretty dated
Jane Porter - King Of The Desert, Captive Bride An excellent novel from the Presents line. I generally don't care for this line because the heroes are too arrogant, but this one was really great

What I'm reading this week

I plan on finishing Tanith Lee's Darkness I, which I've sadly been reading for 2 weeks. I'm also reading Sondra Standford's And Then Came Dawn. Its one of the older Silhouette romances. I also hope to finally start Such A Pretty Fat, since I didn't get around to that one last week. I really need to start making headway in my TBR pile, because its really out of control. I need to buy more shelving or something. For Doctor Who fans, my house looks like Silence In The Library! (Only David Tennant isn't anywhere to be found)

What Are You Reading!

It's Monday and Bookjourney wants to know what we've been reading and what we're going to read.

Let's Recap, last week I read:

Karen Robards - Green Eyes
Mallory Kane - The Sharpshooter's Secret Son
Jen Lancaster - My Fair Lazy (read this for a few giggles)
Debra Lee Brown - Gold Rush Bride

Currently I'm reading:

Tanith Lee's Darkness, I. I didn't start this one until the end of last week. Everything I picked up seemed to take me forever to get through, even the Harlequins I read to keep my sanity.

Jane Porter - King Of The Desert, Captive Bride

What I'm going to be reading:

Jen Lancaster - Such A Pretty Fat

My best friend and my second mom, got the chance to go to a book signing, since she is lucky enough to live in Chicago, where Jen is from. She bought me a copy of this book and had it autographed for me! It is now one of my prized possessions!

What I'm Doing

I liked this meme so much that I'm going to do it again this week

What I'm reading:

I'm about halfway through Karen Robard's Green Eyes. Its a fairly good historical romance, though I'm not sure if its one I can praise highly. I'll reserve my judgment until I finish it though. It might get better. Right now I'm not holding out much hope though. I just hope I can finish it. I hate to abandon books.

My bedside book this week is Tanith Lee's Darkness, I. I haven't read a good paranormal in ages and this book has been on my TBR pile for yonks.

I'm not far enough into this one to give you any idea of what I think of it, although I would wager that its probably better than Green Eyes. Right now I'd have to say even Twilight is better than Green Eyes and I hate Twilight.

What I'm watching:

I'm playing catch up this week: I'm still watching Castle, as I've fallen asleep before the last two week's episodes aired.

I'm also watching Ashes To Ashes. I can't believe I'm viewing series 2 and 3 at the same time. I have two epis of the current series to watch, but I'm not ready to reach the end of Alex Drake and DCI Gene Hunt yet. They are 2 characters I've come to love over the past few years.

What's on my TBR pile:

Debbie Macomber - Hannah's List
Jina BaCarr - The Blonde Samurai
Phillipa Gregory - The Boleyn Inheritance
