Entangled Publishing Book Tours: Torch In The Forest

Torch In The Forest author, Marcie Kremer is stopping by the blog today and offering up a fun Top 10 list! Stop back to the blog later today for my review

TOP TEN LIST OF THINGS ON MY DESK

OUR ISLAND STORY by H.E. Marshall
THE LITTLE COLONEL AT BOARDING SCHOOL by Annie Fellowes Johnston
An autographed basketball from Coach John Wooden, legendary UCLA basketball coach
An autographed picture of Tommy LaSorda, L.A. Dodger manager
A picture of my DH, reading to sixth graders on Dr. Seuss Read-Aloud Day
A small figurine of a wizard, studying a book, seated on a grumpy dragon
My iPhone
A bazillion little pieces of paper, on which are notes I write to myself about plot points and revision warnings, such as "Raise the stakes!!!"
Sharpened pencils
A notebook of lined paper, ready to write in!
Growing up in Europe and seeing castles on a daily basis made me sure I wanted to live back in the Middle Ages. Since that wasn’t likely to happen, being a child of the 20th century, the next best thing I could try to do was to write about this enthralling period in history. Having studied medieval history in college, I loved doing the research about how people really lived and spoke and dreamed and loved, and so TORCH IN THE FOREST came to be, thanks to my dear husband, who encouraged me to write about Eleanor and Hugh.

About Marcie: When I’m not writing, I’m reading, or traveling. I love hearing from readers and am happy to do book club conference calls!

Weddings are hell…

After a month of planning not one, but two, demonic weddings, all Faith Bettincourt—the youngest Crown Princess of Hell—wants is to spend some quality time with her angelic boyfriend, Matt. But when a ghost from Matt’s past walks through Faith’s apartment door, her preoccupation with the weddings from Hell is all that’s keeping her from turning his ex, in all her devious angelic glory, into a down throw pillow.

Which is about when Matt’s zealous mother declares war on Faith’s family.

Now Faith will stop at nothing to stop the craziness and make sure the impending nuptials go off without a hitch. All she’s got to do is rescue one of the grooms and go up against an army of so-called do-gooders, and everything will go back to normal. Or as normal as it can be where the Devil's spawn is concerned. With any luck, she might just be able to resuscitate her love life while she's at it.

Review: OMG there are demons in Pittsburgh! I've always known it! Seriously! Just walk down any street in the South Side or Oakland!

Ok, but back to the story.

This is book two in a series. Guess who hasn't read book 1!

If you guessed this Chick, then you are right.

I always do that. I'm always late for the party etc, however, I hadn't heard there was a book one, I wouldn't have known, the book stands on its own quite well.

Oh and can I say, paranormal comedic romance? Set in Pittsburgh?

Yeah, I can't get over the whole Pittsburgh thing.

This story was so hilarious.

Imagine the youngest daughter of the devil working as a pediatric nurse, and no she doesn't kill off her patients! She's good at her job and she cares about her patients! But that doesn't mean she's not snarky, sarcastic and downright fun to read about.

And she's got weddings to deal with, an ex-fiance and her boyfriend's ex girlfriend living in her apartment, not to mention the biggest dysfunctional family around. Oh and her boyfriend's mother kidnaps her brother, who is marrying her friend  Lisa.

There's a lot of drama and fun and some really interesting paranormal elements. A few highlights involve Jesus, who they call J and the imps and sprites.

It was definitely not what I was expecting, but it was and I loved it and I loved the characters.

This is a light, fun and fantastic read. I have to find the first book though, so I can be caught up when the third book comes out and I have to find out what happens between Faith and Matt.

Review: This is a very hot romance. VERY VERY HOT. I think it falls into the Erotic Romance category. Its not as dirty as some of the erotica floating around there, but it is wilder than your average romance novel, plus there is the fact that Heather and Tony fall in love with each other.

One of the things that made this book unique is Heather. She's not a sub! Praise be! Finally a bit of erotic fiction that is a little on the BDSM side (very very lightly) where the guy is more submissive.

For the faint at heart, don't worry, the title explains it all. Heather is a very vanilla dom, as her friend Carla calls her. She does however like having the upper hand, something she learned she liked at the speed dating event where she first meets Tony.

I loved how their relationship evolved. Yes, there was a lot of sex, but there was a lot of background too. You got to know Heather and her insecurities and you got to watch her become more confident as her relationship progressed. You also got Tony's side of the story, which was awesome. A hot high powered exec who liked a little spanking now and then!

Sizzle!

The whole book sizzles. Definitely a great read for your nightstand!

Entangled Publishing Book Tour Guest Post & Review: Robin Bielman - Yours At Midnight

Thanks so much for having me as a guest on A Chick Who Reads, Andrea. I’m so happy to be here and share my favorite way to spend New Year’s Eve.

Over the years, I think I’ve celebrated just about every way – throwing a party, attending a party, on vacation, quietly with just my hubby, then with our kids in our jammies by nine, at the movies, at a restaurant…

But my favorite way to spend the evening is with a few friends at our house. It’s a great reason for me to pull out all the stops and make a gourmet (or as gourmet as I get) dinner and enjoy some champagne (usually in my own version of a mimosa – guava juice instead of orange juice, or spiked in my famous punch). I always make too much food, but I just don’t know how to do otherwise. Dessert is something fun the kids will enjoy like build-your-own sundaes or chocolate fondue with fruit, graham crackers and sponge cake. We adults enjoy that, too. J

We put on music, talk, reminisce, and when it gets close to midnight, we ring in the new year by watching the ball drop in Times Square. That’s a must. I can’t greet January 1st without the big countdown. And I foolishly buy those popper things that explode with confetti and take days to clean up, but it’s worth it when we all shout happy New Year and the room looks like a celebration.

How about you? What’s been your favorite New Year’s celebration? I’d love to give away one eBook copy of Yours At Midnight to one lucky commenter. Open internationally.

Happy New Year!

Lyric Whetsone only had eyes for Quinn Sobel's brother Oliver, until a car crash took Oliver's life on New Year's Eve. Then, a moment of shared grief between Quinn and Lyric became something more impassioned, something that frightened Quinn so much he ran from Lyric's bed and her life, disappearing for four long years. Now Quinn's back for another New Year's Eve, struggling for closure, desperate to leave his grief in the past and make amends with the girl of his dreams. But Lyric has a secret--one that could drive Quinn from her life forever. Will Quinn run away from the love and acceptance he's always wanted...or will he claim his New Year's kiss and make her his at midnight?

Review: This is the kind of short holiday story that I have always loved. It is a story of second chances and of families and the love that binds them.

Quinn and Lyric are old friends and we soon learn lovers who share something in common, a son, Max, conceived as a result of a one night stand, several years back after the funeral of Quinn's brother Oliver.

I like how Robin took a plot that has been used before and made it new and fun. When we found out who Max's father was, it came as a surprise, though I suppose it should have been obvious, with the way Lyric was behaving around Quinn.

The chemistry between the two characters was electric, yet the story was more subdued, a sweet romance. Though the story was only about 90 pages, I felt like Lyric and Quinn's story was complete and nothing was left unsaid. If there was anything else that could have been added, it would have been a bit of the back story between the two, but that wasn't really necessary.

This is a great story to start the new year with and one you can easily devour in one sitting. I look forward to many more romantic reads by Robin Bielman.
