Review: OMG OMG OMG, this book is just what I needed. I totally love stories about past lives. I am a huge fan of M.J. Rose's books for that reason alone.

This book is really amazing. Its the kind of book I like to read in October, cos I'm all about books with a dark almost spooky side in the Halloween month.

There's a certain darkness to Alice and Janie, the kind that makes you curl up in a corner with this book until its finished. Its been a very long time that any book as made me want to just hole up someone and read until I reach the last page.

This was one of those books.

I don't want to give anything away, because you don't want to miss this book.

Review: Can I just say that when I'm in a reading slump there should be a new Delores Fossen book to pull me out of it.

I am truly thankful for this book.

I had been reading a whole lot of books that while being good books, didn't move me, or make me feel anything.

I like to be emotionally involved in my reading.

Blame It On The Cowboy was a book that made me happy.

Yay!

The premise alone was amazing and funny. Logan's longtime relationship went down the tubes in a spectacular way and Reese was living out a bucket list because she was told she wasn't going to be living very much longer.

Yeah...you know there's going to be something funny here.

Seriously, the whole thing with Logan's ex and her sexy affair with a clown will provide you with loads of laughs.

Then there's Reese's friend Jimena. She's very protective of her friend. She makes some threats involving cat poop and coffee that were highly entertaining.

The drama of the story revolves around Reese's colorful past. She has a juvi record and her parents were con artists, which doesn't usually make her look good. There are a lot of people trying to blackmail people in this book.

The surprising thing about this book was how little sex there was in this book.  Lots of talk about it. (A lot involving the clown and its nose...and well...I don't want to spoil it for you).

Logan is a great hero. I loved that there wasn't a huge conflict between him and Reese to pull them apart, it was really more about cleaning up the people making her life miserable.

I will say that things did wrap up a bit too nicely, but hey, this is romance.

I adore the McCord Brothers series is one of the best I've read and this book didn't disappoint. I loved how Logan and Reese came together.

If you love cowboys and romance, don't pass this book up.

Review: This book left me with mixed feelings. I loved the subject matter.  A girl in the 1800's that masquerades as a boy to join the cavalry.

I am a huge fan of historical fiction, but for some reason this book didn't really resonate with me the way I would have wanted it to.

Nadya is an impressive woman. She's starts out almost tomboyish, but that isn't even accurate. She's a girl who really was raised as a son. Her mother has no love for her, and one scene as the baby Nadya tossed out of a carriage window because her mother couldn't calm her.

Yikes.

The story is based on Nadya's memoirs "The Calvary Maid". 

She was a fascinating person and I found myself really interesting in Nadya's life. (Sadly a little more than the book)

Today Nadya would likely be considered transgender. She certainly identified more as a man than as a woman. 

The story is totally fascinating and if I weren't in a total reading slump, I think I would have enjoyed it so much more.
