Book Blurb:
Ten years after their college days together, three wounded and very different women reunite for a summer on the island of Martha's Vineyard. As they come to grips with the challenges and crises in their lives, their encounter with a reclusive poacher, known only as "the fisherman," threatens to change everything they believe about their world-and each other.

Review: The Vineyard is a superb novel about three college roommates that reunite one summer. Each woman has grown since they were in college and they have their own set of problems.

I had a little bit of an issue with Charlotte's storyline. The book opens with her wanting to commit suicide to be with her dead daughter, Meredith.  The Catholic church wouldn't give her Christian burial because she wasn't baptized. There's also the issue that she didn't go to heaven, but rather limbo.

I'm 40 years old and a Catholic girl and the concept of limbo and purgatory aren't really taught anymore.

Turner was an interesting character too. She is an aspiring writer with a blog who gets involved with all the wrong men.

These women are all in their early thirties, but sometimes I felt Michael should have written them as older, because their actions and dialogue made them seem much older.

I loved the intertwining of lives of each of these women with the other characters. But its the character of "the fisherman" that brings the story together. It doesn't take long to realize that faith is going to play a huge part in this story.

This was a gripping read and one I couldn't put down once I started.
