The Perfect Lap
by Sedona Hutton

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

His job is to drive fast. Hers is to put the brakes on him. When sparks fly, will love cross the finish line?

AJ Ryan is a publicity nightmare. After a questionable photo surfaces and his biggest sponsor threatens to pull out, the NASCAR champion admits it might be time to hit the brakes. Thankfully, his new no-nonsense image consultant knows just where to start… too bad she revs his engine so loudly he can barely think straight.

Ella Fisher’s career is a welcome distraction from her poor taste in men. Fresh off another easily avoidable heartbreak, rehabbing AJ’s career is just the diversion she needs. But when the pulse-pounding client actually listens to her advice, Ella wonders if there’s more to the man behind the hot mess.

When Ella is granted guardianship of three boisterous children under the misconception that she and AJ are a couple, AJ surprises her by going along with the charade. Before long they find themselves in a make-shift family that feels more real than pretend.

As their professional relationship takes a hard turn for the personal, a single overheard conversation could make it all go up in flames. Will Ella and AJ’s romance hit the wall, or will love take the checkered flag?

The Perfect Lap is the second standalone novel in the Racing Hearts of Serenity romance series. If you like bad boys with a heart of gold, strong women, and love stories with a new age twist, then you’ll adore Sedona Hutton’s fun, sexy tale.

Excerpt:

I bet you have a beautiful smile,” he drawled, then lowered his mouth to hers.

She should have pulled away—she didn’t know this man from Adam. But everything inside her protested. After gazing into each other’s eyes, she felt like she knew him intimately.

His lips were warm and tingly, his kiss pure perfection…and he drew back way too quickly. He blinked those deep blue eyes and gave her a lazy grin. “I knew it.” He rubbed the pad of his thumb over her lower lip. “Beautiful.”

That’s when she realized she was smiling.

He rose, and she gave him a quick once over, taking in the sexy stubble on his face, the taut muscles of his chest, his lean physique. As good old-fashioned lust rolled through her like a quick-moving thunderstorm, she silently bemoaned her situation. This was a hell of a time to have a newly implemented man-ban.

Keep smiling.” Stuffing his hands in his pockets, he winked at her. “It suits you,” he added in that low, sexy drawl. Then he sauntered off.

Her breath caught as she spun around to gape at him. He’d just kissed her and now he was leaving? She contemplated calling him back, then reconsidered. She had other fish to fry.

Even so, she couldn’t stop herself from tracking his every move as he swaggered toward the party, his backside looking every bit as fine as the rest of him. Pressing a hand to her chest, she let out a slow exhale. Even though she was one-hundred percent committed to her man-ban, she could admit—at least to herself—that the sexy, charming stranger had intrigued her.

Book Spotlight: Bloodsucking Lawyer

Release Tour for BLOODSUCKING LAWYER by Nadia Diament
Brought to you by Forever Write PR

Debut author Nadia Diament brings us a one of a kind paranormal romantic comedy,
BLOODSUCKING LAWYER. For Emma, working for a vampire lawyer wasn't part of the plan...
and neither was falling for him. Fans of FBI/US Attorney series by Julie James and Kresley Cole’s
Immortals After Dark series will devour this slow-burn, sexy yet humorous office romance.

Emma left her career in corporate law to pursue her passion for criminal defense, but she can’t seem to catch a break. So when she lands an interview at a small law firm, she’s more than thrilled. But she has no idea what she’s in for.

Turns out it’s not just any law firm, and Henry—her new boss—isn’t exactly, well…human.

Apparently he drinks blood instead of coffee, and his client list consists of creatures that go
bump in the night. But, the way Emma sees it, if she can get through law school, she can
handle a few pothead werewolves and shoplifting witches. So she stays.

There’s just one thing she didn’t count on, and that’s catching feelings for her new vampire
boss. Henry and his fangs become a temptation too hard to ignore, and no matter how hard
she tries, she still falls for him.

Problem is, everyone knows office romances have the tendency to crash and burn. But when your
boss is a bloodsucking lawyer, odds are it’s a disaster waiting to happen.

It never hurt to have someone owe you a favor.
Emma walked away from them with a smirk. “Come on, you don’t want to be late.”
The two men scurried after her and slipped into one of the elevators just in time for the doors to promptly close behind them. The sunburned lawyer jabbed the button for the third floor and adjusted his bag on his shoulder.
“Thank you. I really appreciate it.” The sincerity in his voice made her look up in time to see him smile.
Emma returned the gesture but blinked in surprise when she realized that even with the sunburn, the
dude in a suit was attractive. Not just Tucson attractive, but legitimately attractive. She’d been too
distracted earlier to take a proper look. Deep blue eyes and artfully tousled brown hair. Given the
sunburn, he was obviously pale, but she couldn’t exactly judge when she worked in an office all day
and hadn’t had a proper tan since college.
He was tall and lean, and a three-piece charcoal suit accentuated his form with grace. As a lawyer, she should’ve been immune to the precision of a tailored suit by now, but he wore his so damn well. She’d been deprived since moving back to Tucson, whose general population relied on a steady supply of t-shirts and shorts. She had to admit, though, that she would happily take Tucson’s casual vibe; Phoenix’s conservative concrete jungle had worn her out.
The elevator pinged as the doors slid open, startling Emma out of her reverie. Now was not the time to
be checking this guy out. She would do him this favor, then see if he had connections at any criminal defense firms. But nothing else—no personal stuff. She needed a steady paycheck before she could get lost in the mire of dating. Her student loan bills routinely gave her heart palpitations.
They hurried through the courthouse and finally tracked down the right room. As Emma approached,
she realized she didn’t know the dude in the suit’s name.
She extended her hand for him to shake. “I’m Emma, by the way.”
“Henry.” His grip was firm, confident, and warm.
Emma didn’t put much stock in the notion that a handshake defined a person, but she could definitely
appreciate the feel of his. She was reluctant to let go, but eventually did, bound by lame societal
expectations and all that.
Apparently oblivious to her inappropriate staring, he fished through the inner pocket of his suit for a
business card and a fountain pen. He scrawled something on the back, waved it dry, and handed the
card to her. “My cell phone number.”
Emma ran her fingers back and forth across the textured linen paper. Mercifully, Wendell kept her from
saying or doing something stupid—like asking Henry out for drinks.
“Er, yes. Nice to meet you, Ms. Emma. Can we go in now?”
“Of course,” she said with an encouraging smile.
Emma pulled the door open for Henry’s client and slipped inside after him. As the door started to shut,
she turned back to look at Henry. Warmth suffused her when he pressed his hands together in prayer
and mouthed a single word to her:
Lifesaver.

Review: This is a book I really would have loved to read in Oct, just because of the subject matter of the book. I mean, Vlad Dracula?

This book was so wonderful and I found myself googling quite a bit while reading this, not that there is a whole lot known about her or her marriage, so this makes this a nice "what if" sort of novel. OK, saying nice is probably not a good word choice when discussing a book about Vlad the Impaler. Its probably better to say it makes for an intriguing reading.

From the first page you are swept into Ilona's world you won't be able to put it down the book until its finished.

As I glanced out over the vast span of water in front of me, I imagined sitting on the shore with my arm wrapped around the beauty beside me. Her pixie-cut hairstyle matched her Tinkerbell laugh. As the sun began to set, she peered up at me through long dark lashes. Leaning down, I gently kissed her, tasting the bubble gum lip gloss she applied earlier. “I love you,” she whispered against my lips. Sighing, I pressed my forehead against hers. “I love you.”

The dream was the same every night. And every morning I woke up missing Connie even more. Two years ago, almost to the day, she died from a congenital heart defect. I’d met her by chance through my best friend Brady who, at the same time, was dating her best friend Marie. Our romance was short lived, but in the small amount of time we had, I fell hard. As Connie would have wanted, I did my best to live life to the fullest, but some days were harder than others. Her image haunted me everywhere. Each time I saw her beautiful face, I ached to touch her again.

Review: There are some books that you can sum up in a few words and that's not because there isn't a lot to say about the book. This is one of those books. I have spent days trying to find the words to say how I felt about this book and nothing seemed adequate

Violet's story left me emotionally gutted. That's really all I can say without going into the story, that I don't want to spoil for you. Suffice to say if you think there is a stigma around mental health issues today, it was much worse in the 1930s when this book is set.

As I read, I recalled conversations with my mother about a friend of hers that went through the electric shock treatment. I remember reading about Rosemary Kennedy and when lobotomy was brought up in the story, I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall.

My heart ached and broke into tiny shards while reading this book. I felt for Violet's family and for her husband, Miles who was trying to do his best.

I grew angry at the way Violet was treated in the institutions, because I've read a lot about mental health and I know that though much has changed it took a long time for it to happen.

I wanted to gather Violet in my arms and remind her that she was loved.

Mostly I wanted to find Margaret and tar and feather that nasty piece of work that called herself a friend.

All I can say is that this book was simply amazing and one that should not be missed though it will take a piece of your heart with you.

Review: I think I'm hitting all my beach reads at one time. Summer on Mirror Lake is a wonderful "summer" story.

This was a sweet small town romance with Gabe and Chelsea, but unlike some of the other small town, summer books I've read, this one was a little to long. OK, it was a lot too long. I don't mind a chunker, but this one really wasn't that, it was 384 pages, but they were very long pages.

I felt this story could have been about 300 pages and everything would have been fine and the read would still be enjoyable.

I liked the characters, but there was so much filler that made things go on longer than it needed to.

“I’m here for Corina Davies in 1205,” I respond, my nerves rattling even louder than five
minutes ago when I was seized with the instinct to see her.

“Is she expecting you?” he asks, resting his hand on the phone.

I shake my head. The guy must think I’m a weirdo for just showing up like this. He’s going to
call her for sure.

Sure enough, he picks up the phone. “Ms. Davies, you have a visitor,” he says, and then
looks back at me.

“Your name?”

I almost turn around to walk back out into the night, but I stay rooted to the spot. “Kurt.
Kurt Owens.”

“Kurt Owens. Thanks.” He turns to me again and nods.

“Go ahead. Have a good evening.”

I head for the elevator, and my heart rate rises with each step. She’s gonna think I’m fucking
nuts for showing up like this at midnight. And why am I doing this again? What do I hope to
achieve by interrupting whatever relaxing activity she’s enjoying at this time of night?

I don’t know, but the thought of seeing her makes my palms sweat. I remember that skirt she
wore, and how soft her legs looked. My cock twitches at the memory of her silky-smooth legs.

Fuck. Down, boy. We’re not here for that.

I step into the elevator and before I know it, I’m standing in front of her door, my hand in the
air. What am I going to tell her? What’s my excuse for showing up here so late? At the very
least, I have to admit it to myself—I just want to see her. I have to see her. There’s no denying
the spark that flew between us the other night. All those years hadn’t done a damn thing to kill
our chemistry.

It sure is ballsy to just show up here. Maybe I’ve had a bit much to drink, but I’m not drunk. I’m
not slurring or falling over myself. She won’t notice.

Finally, I knock. She’s expecting me, because she opens up right away. Seeing her knocks the
wind out of me. Her hair rests over her shoulders in this sexy, yet natural way; she has a hint
of makeup, but not much. She doesn’t need any. She’s still a natural beauty, just like she was
all those years ago.

A light pink, silk robe clings to her body and ends just above the knees. She ties up the belt,
very tight, as if afraid it might slip off any minute. Or that I might see what’s underneath. I try to
push the thought from my head.
“Hi,” I say, hoping I don’t look as awkward as I feel. I’m standing in her doorway, without any good reason whatsoever, like a doofus. She’d be perfectly justified in turning me away with some excuse about going to sleep or whatever. But, she doesn’t.
She stands back to let me in.

“Hi, Kurt.”

I love the way my name sounds on her lips. Her lush, rosy lips. So smooth and kissable.

Author Info:

If you love naughty romances about irresistible men who love their women fiercely, you’ve
come to the right place. Sylvia's books include a sprinkling of angst, introspective and lovable
characters, and a healthy helping of steam. She lives in Toronto with her husband, their two
young kids, and an adorable Maine Coon who follows them around like a guard dog when
they go for walks!

Review: What's not to love about the 425 Madison series? Not much!

This was a great best friend's sibling romance. Is that a trope?

Corina and Kurt = Awesomesauce

They had the best chemistry from the start.

How they work out their relationship is wonderful A little bit strange at times, but wonderful. I was a little befuddled at why they seemed to be worried about what Corina's brother felt about her being involved with Kurt and not the fact that he got her a job. She referenced #MeToo but I don't think that it was being referenced in quite the way that it should be.

I devoured this book, like a chocolate bar.  Its a quick fun read, that definitely falls into the beach read category. I always read romance when I used to tan.
