A Chick Ponders Bookish Things: Balancing Time And Books

Life interrupts me again. I'm behind in my reading and there's so much I want to read, not to mention several tours that I'm taking part in.

I have to remind myself that though I love doing these tours and that having content is absolutely fabulous, I need a month to just read books that I want to read. There are plenty of those lying about. Heck, I keep buying books. (Well at used stores for the most part these days.)

I have 5 library books and I have renewed them 3 times!

Yikes!

I promised myself I wouldn't bite off more than I could chew, but guess what I've done.

I've bitten off way more than I could chew.

Actually, it wouldn't have been so bad if both of my parents hadn't had extended hospital stays in the last month.

Maybe I can play catch up in August. I don't have much going on then.

Have you ever found yourself overwhelmed by your book blogging commitments?

Oh yes, I do it all the time. Just ask my "over-400-and-growing-TBR-mountain", if you dont' believe me! LOL. And I keep accepting the few review requests I get, plus joining tours (though lately I've been just doing posts, not reviews for them).

We won't even get into how many review books I'm behind on, or how a few are from more than a year ago. Nor will we mention the twenty million things I'm trying to take care of outside of my reading/reviewing world.

Needless to say, I know what you are saying! :)

I haven't actually finished a book, of any kind, in over 2 weeks. For me, this is as abnormal as you can get. I've just been so busy, plus in a reading funk, and frankly, I'm a bit tired right now of having to read books for review-- I want the days back when I could pick up any book I wanted, when I wanted, and read it at leisure...

Perhaps I, too, should take a break and try to catch up. But when I try--life gets in the way and a month later I'm still at square one. LOL.

I hope everything is okay with your parents--having family in the hospital is always tough, but more than one person in such a close time frame is even worse! My thoughts are with you and yours; I've been there, and believe me it's no fun!

Enjoy!

Oh, totally! Back towards the end of school I barely had time to eat, much less read, and I felt awful because I was balancing "important things" (i.e. school and family) with my "play time" (reading and blogging). I felt like I wasn't giving either the time they deserved and felt really awful because of it.

After that, I just cut down on my blogging commitments a lot, less review requests/book tours/etc, so I could read and review without the stress.

Hope you find that balance soon!

Oh yes. It's why I do very few book tours anymore, and why I stopped accepting review requests and have 1-2 mth wait for author features. I just don't have the time to do everything I want to do.

But when I get stressed out, like when I look at the list of 10 reviews I have to write, I take a deep breath and try to remember I do this for fun. I'm not being paid, even though I enjoy it way more than my day job.
