This is a compilation of 3 short stories using dogs as a theme. It is fiction, although we do state in one story that it is true. The stories are geared for adults and are about man's special relationship with his/her best friend--their dog. The stories are heartfelt and will warm anyone's heart who has owned and loved and lost their pet. They are also about hope that springs eternal in both man and beast, with resolution and solutions that are sometimes out of the ordinary.Book Blurb:
Review: This book is made up of 3 short stories all dog related. It is really hard to say why this was such a great read, except that if you love animals or just dogs, or if you have ever loved a dog, this is definitely a book you'll want to read.
The first two stories are other worldly in tone The Year The Devil Came To Christmas reminded me a bit of the Monkees episode The Devil and Peter Tork. With a young doctor that is about to lose his soul to Lucifer.
The Dog Shusher is another unique tale. Maddie is hoping for some training for her dog. She finds it in Dog Bob a dog Shusher. (not whisperer). This whole story of the dog that is part timber wolf and the Dog Shusher who resembles a movie star feels like its out of the Twilight Zone. The ending is sweet, but it still has creepy undertones.
Its the title story that will really move you. A beloved family pet is killed, its owner almost dies of grief and another puppy brings love. Those things happen. If I told you more, I'd spoil the story for you. Anyone that has ever loved and lost a dog needs to read this story in particular.
Now if you don't mind, I want to play with the pups on the cover!
