TLC Book Tours Book Review: When I'm Gone

About When I’m Gone

Hardcover
Publisher: Lake Union Publishing (March 15, 2016)
Dear Luke,
First let me say—I love you…I didn’t want to leave you…
Luke Richardson has returned home after burying Natalie, his beloved wife of sixteen years, ready to face the hard job of raising their three children alone. But there’s something he’s not prepared for—a blue envelope with his name scrawled across the front in Natalie’s handwriting, waiting for him on the floor of their suburban Michigan home.
The letter inside, written on the first day of Natalie’s cancer treatment a year ago, turns out to be the first of many. Luke is convinced they’re genuine, but who is delivering them? As his obsession with the letters grows, Luke uncovers long-buried secrets that make him question everything he knew about his wife and their family. But the revelations also point the way toward a future where love goes on—in written words, in memories, and in the promises it’s never too late to keep.

Review: This book blew me away. Imagine someone you love so very much dies and then you start receiving letters from them. This made me think of how Jack Benny had roses sent to his wife, Mary after his death.

It made me think of my father's passing and how, even though I knew it was coming, I wanted some closure. I think the letters were wonderful in some ways and the mystery involved with them intriguing.

Her letter's give him advice on raising the three children that he's left with. They also reveal some secrets about the woman that he loved.

This was a stunning novel that will touch your heart.

I've always thought about what I would do, write, and say if I knew my death were imminent ... what a challenge to find the right words!

Thanks for being a part of the tour.

Wow this sounds so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. I lost my dad when I was younger also and if I could have received letters from him (insert waterworks here) that would have been great! Thanks for sharing this great review :)
